day 1- a recent picture and 15 interesting facts

I don't have any recent pictures that are very flattering, so this will have to do:) I cropped it out of a group picture over from over Thanksgiving Break in which I set the camera up on timer and ran into the picture. haha.
This 15 interesting facts business is always hard to do. Like when you go to classes for the first time and they tell you to think of 1 interesting fact about yourself...bah... lets see what I can come up with off the top of my head.

1. I CAN'T STAND the sound of hands sliding down metal railings, the ones that aren't smooth metal but they look a little lighter coloring/stainless stealish type. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

2. I've had the same toe ring for 5 or 6 years and haven't taken it off once. Oh just kidding, I took it off once for 1 hour.

3. I love painting (mainly oil) and drawing. I took two hours of art back to back in high school so that I could drop math my junior year. ( :P ) I wanted to major in visual arts, but never got a portfolio ready. So I majored in PE Teaching/Coaching.

4. I went through modeling classes my junior year of college...

5. I absolutely LOVE Andes Mints and would be happy if that was the only sweet thing I ate for the rest of my life.

6. I can now successfully shoot a 3-pointer and set shot:) In high school I only ever shot jump shots and my range was only a little behind the charity stripe extended.

7. I love traveling. I always have. I wish I could travel the world and take photographs of it all. I have had the opportunity to travel a lot already. Places I've been: States- Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Arizona, Nevada, Illinois, Missouri, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Hawaii (Oahu & Maui) Outside of USA- Mazatlan, Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, & China. And oh the list of places I want to go!!! (kinda stole this fact idea from shanae.. ;) thanks sis. but i really DO love to travel.

8. I've had allergies and asthma since I was 4 years old.

9. In high school I played soccer (midfield and shootout goalie)((State Champs my Sr year, woot woot ;) ))  basketball (4 or 5) track (100m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put(only to get points for our team ;) ), 4x1, 4x2, 4x4 & 300 hurdles once- coach made me run them and I did not want to AT ALL, I told him if I fell he had to promise I would never run them again...I fell the very last hurdle.....)

10. I LOVE crime scene investigation TV shows or movies. I wanted to be a forensic scientist when I was little.

11. I've played the piano since I was five and played the flute for about 4ish years.

12. I own about 25-30 pairs of basketball shorts. You know how some girls are attracted to shoes, some jewelry when out shopping? Mine was basketball shorts in high school and college.

13. I kind of have speech problems. I used to say things backwards ALL the time. (I'm becoming healed of that though) Like I would switch the first letter of two words when talking and not even notice it. Made for some pretty embarrassing moments sometimes :) (One time years ago said in front of a boy I had a huge crush on "boy those would sure be a (tight fit)" I'll let you do the exchanging of letters for the words in parenthesis ;)

14. I really like to put things together and be crafty. I don't do it often though.

15. I can still do a backflip on the ground. Shanae, my older sis, taught me when I was in 3rd grade and I took a few gymnastics classes along the way. If I didn't love sports so much, I would continued with dance or gymnastics. (I did tap and jazz from 5 years old up until 5th grade)

That was kind of fun:)

365 days later

It's crazy to think that a year ago yesterday, the first time I got to even touch my son was seeing him in this incubator and I was only able to touch his tiny little fingers and arm and had to wait a whole week to actually hold him for the first time. We went from thinking he was stillborn to having a damaged brain to a completely healthy little boy and we couldn't feel more blessed to just have him in our lives.

Here are just a few pictures from the first year of his life.

Warren has always been a super happy, smiley baby. Of course he has his days where I feel like I want to pull my hairs out, but most of the time he's content and enjoys life. Warrens first word was 'ball'. Seth likes to think it was 'dad' but I just think it was part of him learning to speak. He says 'dadada'. I know he knows what a ball is, I got him a little set of a basketball, football, and soccer ball and when he opened it, he said, 'ball!' It's so cute.
He has yet to really say mama and know what it means, but he's sure a mama's boy, but loves his snuggle time with daddy in the morning.
He likes to follow me around during the day and pull on my pants and whine a little until I pick him up. This little man makes me smile/laugh many times a day, as Seth would say, 'he's just soo cute I could eat him'.

He didn't feel so well on the day that we celebrated his birthday, he was kind of sick. Warren and I had just gotten back from a 20 hr car ride that should have only taken 13 the day before and he had thrown up 7 times that previous day. He wasn't as into his cake as I think he normally would be, auntie Cori smeared some over his face to see if he would like the taste, which he did, he just didn't want to dig in. So we're gonna try again tomorrow. I didn't get as great of pictures as I wanted, it was dark and I was more worried about helping him realize that he needed to and it was okay dig in ;)

My mom threw this party for Warren and I, since we were all going to be in separate places for both of our actual birthdays, THANKS MOM :) so here's just one of me and my cake.

come what may and.... love it?

I got my hair cut yesterday...I always think I'm more brave than I am. I got 4 inches off the bottom and I usually always have some kind of bangs. Longer swoopish bangs. They had totally grown out and I just felt plain jane blah, so I thought I wanted bangs. I thought I wanted to go shorter. I have a couple of friends who look SOOO cute with shorter bangs. I didn't want the straight across bangs, cuz I'm just not stylish enough to make it look cute. She cut them, and cut them again, I told her to go a little shorter. What. was. I. thinking?!?!

I dont have to wear them straight across

But they're definitely short enough to go straight across.....

Luckily my hair grows pretty fast. Maybe I should start taking two prenatal pills a day :)

button button whose got the button

I have a button for my photography blog on the right sidebar if you want one;) And who you may ask is the amazing designer behind it and my new business cards that I'm soo excited about?!?

Let me introduce to you Hillary Williams of HiLLmark Design! Hillary's awesome and so easy to work with!! I didn't really know what I wanted overall, but told her a few things I knew for sure I wanted. I wanted simple with a little design and she came up with my logo design right off the bat and I love it! It's very original and she actually made it out of my "Janica LaRae" font, which makes it even better:)

If you need something designed, check out her site!! (Linked in the paragraph above in green;) )

here comes old man winter

This year I think I'm actually okay with the snow coming. (I know I'll eat those words once it actually comes to stay) Most likely because it's been amazingly nice here in Utah. It's the second week into November and it's only snowed once!! We've been having some super nice days, too.

The leaves are all falling off and brown in the mountains, but this last week the colors here in the valley have been gorgeous!! I love it, but the leaves are starting to fall off and leave us with barren branches. I think its ugly. ha.
I had to get a few quick shots right before church with Warren in the golden leaves before they all go brown. He was loving them and the crunchy sounds.

Seth likes to get warren out of his crib when he wakes up, because warren will cuddle with him. He won't do it with me, but he'll just lay on Seth's shoulder for ten minutes, even when I come right up to his face with the camera :) It's really sweet and I may or may not be somewhat jealous.

Little man Ren is almost walking! 18 steps is his record so far. He walks like a mummy with his hands out in front of him, it's pretty cute.

In about a month I'll be playing city league basketball, I can't explain how excited I am!! I miss BYU intramurals, and I miss being competitive and having a goal ("championship") to reach for. I do play ball three times a week and I love it, but it's not the same when you're not playing to win the "whole thing".

Here's a few photos from a Halloween party with a few of our best friends. I can't find the better pictures of warren in his little skeleton onsie. Seth and I were kind of poopers and didn't really dress up. We wore wigs.

Mickey and Minnie, Donny and Marie, and Polygamists were in attendance.

haha. i love this pic below.
We had a contest on making haunted halloween houses in 20 minutes. It was actually really fun and then we had to go around and explain the hauntedness of each house.

This was ours. Not totally haunted looking but we had fun making it nonetheless.
