one of those days.

I must admit, I've been pretty good this last little while on not comparing myself (photographically) to other photographers. I've had people tell me over and over that I shouldn't even look at others' work. Which I don't all the time, it's just a habit I've had since who knows when and couldn't really contain it once I started into it :) AND I didn't compare myself to them. (Well, maybe once in a while, I did)

Let me back up. When I started, I compared myself to all the greats and got down on myself A LOT and thought I shouldn't continue to pursue photography because I would never be as good as them. I soon remembered photography is an art---> everyone has their own interpretation of art---> not everyone will like your art---> but that's okay as long as YOU like your art.

So I soon got to a point where I liked my art and honestly didn't care if hundreds of people liked it. I realized I shouldn't get hung up on how many people looked at my blog that day...how many comments a certain post got...etc...  I was able to shoot because I loved it and I was happy with my results.

BUT
I knew something was missing. I wasn't satisfied 100% with my results.

Then I found Film.

I've loved it. Until today. haha. I'm not satisfied with my results. I'm worrying too much about what others think and I'm comparing my final product to others. I've found myself freaking out that I can't COMPLETELY control how it turns out. (The lab I send it to does) And I've been sending it to not the BEST lab because the best is stinking expensive. But I just found an alternate that's almost as good and half the pretty penny the best lab is. So we shall see.

I'm working back up to the "don't compare yourself to others, etc" phase I was in. But today is just one of those days.... and I know I can get back up to where I was because I did it with digital. It's all about the learning process :)

ok. tangent done. I still love Film.

  1. I love your film photos! Seriously. Of course, I don't know a thing about photography, except when something looks good. But I have noticed how your photos look so much more real and unaltered. And I love that. So keep it up!!
